Sideband signed on in 1991 from a converted storage room with a donated transmitter and six hours of daily programming. Today it broadcasts a full 24-hour schedule, entirely volunteer-programmed, funded by listener membership rather than underwriting.
There is no program syndication on this station — every regular slot is hosted live by the person who built it, and the schedule reflects whatever that group of volunteers is actually interested in during a given year.
The station operates under a noncommercial educational license and is governed by a community board elected from the membership.
